1. Moon Flow

    October 23, 2008 by Cherise

I don’t upload new art often enough but I did do a neat little sketch last night while I was trying to calm down and go to sleep.

I was thinking about what it would look best as and thought the style best fit a vector. So I scanned it and made a few modifications to the design to fit with the limitations of my skills in vectoring. this is what came out of it.

I’m really happy with the result and even though I have my limitations I felt like that I compensated well. I’m really proud of this.

I was originally going to make her hair black but while I was clearing the blue lines from the sketch paper I had to use the eye dropper and realized the blue that was coming out was very soft and light. I really liked it. It just seemed to fit better than black so I kept with a gray and blue theme. Though black is used its not dominate and most of it is used to draw your eye to the center of the image. On a side note: don’t ever sketch on lined paper cause you never know what will come out of a doodle. Always keep some printing paper stuck in the back of your note book so you won’t have to deal with cleaning up the blue lines later.

The title is moon flow as stated in the title. Sketch took about 30 mins to do since I was doodling on other things at the same time. Vector took about 2:30 hours. I didn’t use a pen tool just the mouse to make the shapes.

  2. WIP

I’m really happy the way this came out. Its really for a friend. She’s going through a lot of hard times right now. Its just a thumb though it may look large on your screen but really its only about 3 by 3in.

I came up with it while doodling trying to come up with something I was going to want to work on and was happy with was proving to be a chalange. I didn’t plan to add the face till after I finished the feather. Something told me to keep working with this proticular doodle and I’m glad I did.

Slowly I started to see a face it took me awhile to get the curves right though. I was going to have her with long hair that reached across the page but it just seemed heavy and not fitting to the girl. So I shortened it up. I guess you could say she told me too.

I did a little bit more refining to the hair and face added the eye and such. Then I thought it needed colour so I whipped out my watercolour pencils and started blending and shadding. After that I used a small brush to bring out the watercolours.

In real life there are a lot of mistakes I edited it some in photoshop removing those strary lines and such.

    Very happy with it.

  3. Reflections

The past few weeks have been kind busy and yet unevenful. I’ve been to tired to really do anything to this domain but I’m slowly bringing it back and redesigning it because I wasn’t really happy with the way it was before.

Being very sure with what I want to do with this domain now I’ve started to make changes. A bright layout is now in place and I’m very happy with it. I’ve started to add some content for guests and will slowly be building it. My old blog will be locked and gone in awhile because I realized I don’t need two sites.

The gallery has been edited and I added some traditonal stuff works and I’ve been looking through old scetch books.
